this is the 4th time in my career that something i’ve worked on has been picked up on by the mainstream press.. of course, it’s a tiny bit of news, not like california getting burnt to a cinder or something, but it makes me less crapulent for almost.. well.. for a WHOLE minute. and yes, i know ‘crapulent’ is not a word. thanks.
i had nothing to do with landing the account or inking the deal, but i retooled the interface to make it possible for a company like mcdonald’s, with a user base numbering in the thousdands, to use our product.

had a meatball sub for lunch, and now i feel bloated and unwieldly as i sit here creating design specs. things that depress me today: visio, conceptual model diagrams, my lack of self control in the face of meatball subs, the day to day shambling thru tasks i call life. i feel like the protagonist in a ts eliot poem today, and old elito isn’t treatin’ me right. hmm. maybe it’s time to fast or something. feelin’ bored, restless, and somewhat stuffy. yuck

a shoutout goes out to david columbus, my boyhood friend and source of constant sorrow in my life. just kiddin’, the columbi rocks the world of those around him on a consistent basis.. He was upset because I didn’t mention him on his birthday, 10-10, same year as brett Favre.
So Columbi, this goes out to you. Also, everyone should checkout Chicago Dramatists’ “Soft Target”
, directly lovingly by our friend Ann Filmer. Rock on, Ann!

from cnn: “There are over 4 million blogs on the net, more than half run by teenagers. Research group Perseus says the typical blog is written by a teenage girl who updates it about twice a month. ”
well, check this out. i updated the heck outta this thing this month (albeit with crappy content). KICKIN’ THE PANTS OFF TEENAGE GIRLS! Next month: making fun of those with disabilities.
Now: off to take a test on Visual Basic .NET, the most rotten and ill-conceived language since well.. since punch cards. Whoa! I would rather take a test in 6502 machine lanuage than VB.NET.

Ten years ago today my grandfather, Benjamin Berger died. He was an extremely cool guy in his youth. Even though he spent the last 15 years of his life fighting Parkinson’s disease and other diseases that would lay most folks out quick, flashes of his personality would emerge from time to time and you would realize how much we were missing out everyday that illness ate him up.
He and his brothers owned a club called the Latin Quarter in prohibition era Chicago, and he eventually moved to Wisconsin, married my grandmother, and the rest is history.
One of my favorite stories about him is when he taught my mother to drive. She got in the front seat, he got in the back, and acted as though she were his chauffeur. At one point when she ran over a stop sign, he told her to back up the car, and calmly got out of the car. He picked up the stop sign, stuck it back into the ground, got into the back seat, and continued on with the ‘lesson.’ He was a funny, funny guy. Love ya, gramps.
