Why are the neo-cons in the Bush admin so concerned about flooding the media with stories which re-interpret Vietnam? Like this story which calls Kerry’s testimony an aid to the enemy which allowed the Viet Cong to hang in much longer. This is so much bullshit, as a) the VC were fighting their own revolutionary war, and would fight to the last and b) even our own administration had Rand Corporation projections which indicated the Viet Cong would win. It’s just so much easier to re-debate a murky war of empire that happened 30 years ago than Iraq, which is happening today. For one thing, all these stale old farts from the Nixon era like Rumsfeld have had 30 years to prepare their arguments, while for this new war, there is no argument.

No offense to Colonel Day, who suffered greatly and unjustly in the service of our great country.
