The early part of this richer translation of the new Osama bin Laden transcription is interesting. How much did the Saudis give him? Bin Laden skews the history somewhat in his favor, since American did bleed the Soviets. However, we did this because of the amazing intelligence work we did during the Cold War. Some of that was morally ambiguous, but it showed us how to win a war fought without direct contact. Rather, we backed surrogates. But our model was far smaller. Basically, bin Laden is a second Palestine in his size, but he is a true global terror network.

If Kerry wins tomorrow, and I think he will, he is gonna have to change the dynamic quickly. It will be interesting to see if he can get Powell or McCain on board.
