What the whatWG?

Ok. Somebody help me here. What is the whatWG? I understand it’s browser co’s and org’s working with Web Forms 2.0 from the w3C, but to what end?

How applicationy do we become on the internet? Twenty-odd years ago, when puttering with 6502 machine language, it felt somewhat the same way when the Mac came out. Authors will soon be shut out of html as a means of presentation and soon, perhaps as a means of authoring, entirely. In five years, if not sooner, the entire experience of interface will be created via a tool-set which mediates between the human and the created artifact, at least for the web experience. Oh, my. Call it web, call it hype, but Web 2.0 is alive and kickin’, what I would call the fourth micro-computing revolution I have experienced first hand.

This one is going to be fun from a whole different perspective. When you see topics like tag entry as an interaction design or usability issue, the level of politeness of the human computer interaction, and the mediated experience, the human-computer-human interaction, becomes more essential to design. And with frameworks like Ruby on Rails, that is being driven by the technology making it possible to separate presentation from code as an MVC (Model-View-Controller) language pattern. In any event, it’s time for me to finish my thesis!
