Providing accessible tables in WordPress 2.0.3
8 06 2006This site is primarily supported by a WordPress installation, mostly because I’ve mangled, migrated, and archived most of the variety of pages I’ve had on the ‘net at various points in its growth. In any event, I decided to go through Mark Pilgrim’s 30-day Dive into Accessibility to tune up for RailsConf.
The whole thing was really easy to do in WordPress. I’d already been doing a lot of the content stuff for years. Frankly, there’s not much traffic to gems like these, but it was pretty easy making them accessible. Anyway, the one part that was not easy is providing a summary for tables. In fact, WordPress doesn’t allow you to do it by nature.
I wrote a plugin to do just that, and will be posting it on a page here for download tomorrow morning.
