Target lawsuit dismissal gets dissed
8 09 2006The National Federation of the Blind’s lawsuit against Target corporation’s .com presence moved forward today. WebAIM’s blog has the scoop here. Target filed a motion to dismiss stating the Americans with Disabilities Act, et al, only applies in the physical world. The judge did not accept this limitation. In other words, she extended the retailer’s liability into the world of e-commerce, as well. This has huge implications for all e-commerce companies, not just clicks’n’mortar folks. The NFB is justifiably proud, calling it a “Legal Precedent Set for Web Accessibility.”
