The impetus for us to record A Carbon Experiment? so soon after Ghost Circus was desperation, really, since we were all pretty broke and beat. Making this album at Smart Studios in Madison, where I’d gone to college, was a blast. We again made a blunder in scheduling, however, and did 3 days in a row. We didn’t allow our ears to rest, and came away with a superior product to Ghost Circus, but inferior overall. There’s a million things I’d love to tweak, but, as with anything, given the chance to record this again, I wouldn’t, since I’ve already got a pile off new songs to record.
Jeff did this artwork, and it is simply amazing to me that he accomplished all this with a photocopier, exacto knives, sweat and paper tools.
