Blonde ponytails held in check with scrunchies
Rest against manly sportscoated shoulders
As clean shaven necks bob proud heads in time to country music
Like sunflowers in a late August breeze.

Missing the point,
Cover the scent with cloying perfume
Until even the prehistoric insects of this end of summer night
Bow their heads in eternal shame.
